Responsibilities
Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the air transport team.
- Respond to calls via flight, evaluate the scene of an accident and notify appropriate authorities/request additional assistance as required.
- Perform patient assessment and triage; provide advanced life support and/or emergency care as needed before and during transport.
- Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives.
- Determine appropriate mode of transport and assist with locating and establishing a landing zone for the aircraft.
Requirements
/ Certification / Registration:
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing required.
- One or more of the following required:
- Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allowed in lieu of BLS Provider.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Neonatal Resuscitation certification. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certified Registered Nurse specializing in Flight preferred.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
Work Experience:
- 3 years minimum ED or ICU experience; required for CAMTS accreditation.
Additional Preferences
4-5 years of level III or IV NICU or PICU RN experience
BSN
NICU certification
Transport RN experience
