Job Summary and Qualifications
The RN Coordinator for Trauma Services will work with carious organizations/committees to improve overall patient outcomes in pre-hospital care (EMS), emergency care, and inpatient trauma care/process improvement. In addition to the Director of Quality, the Trauma Coordinator will report to the Chief Nursing Officer for all trauma-related activities.

In this role you will:


  • Attend local, regional, district, and state meetings as required to stay current with trauma and stroke data and educate team as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with surgeons, specialties, ED providers, and nurses to follow and insure best outcomes for patient care.
  • Work with various organizations and committees to improve overall patient outcomes and meet regulatory requirements for annual compliance for community education.
  • Help improve communications from pre-hospital to hospital and overall patient outcomes.
  • Assist in outreach to all local EMS services and any other EMS affiliations as required.
  • Maintain annual community education and PI projects per regulatory requirements for Trauma & and Stroke.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for all information communicated at meetings.
  • Enters Trauma Data into Trauma Database.
  • Provides staff education on trauma care / stroke care.
  • Collects data for development of stroke / trauma pathways and protocols and review for acute care areas.
  • Maintains ongoing education and collaboration requirements with HUB Hospital and supporting agencies.
  • Maintains policies/procedures for acute stroke and trauma care and review and update annually.
  • Maintains knowledge of Meadows Health Disaster Plan- Department's Role.
  • Acts as a liaison for Emergency Medical Services, Helicopter Services, and the Hospital.
  • Assist in PI Collection and PI Projects for Trauma & Stroke Programs.
  • Provides for patient comfort, safety, respect, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrateseffective therapeutic communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal with patients, caregivers, and family members.

What qualifications you will need:
  • BLS Required
  • Registered Nurse in the state in which you practice or multi-state compact nursing license
  • Bachelor's required, Master's preferred
  • Minimum of three years recent experience in hospital acute care setting
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation systems/HER, age and culture-specific competencies
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement and coding structures preferred
