The Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit 3 West is a 7-bed inpatient unit dedicated to the rehabilitation of pediatric patients ages 3 to 18 years old and a Joint Service of MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and Children’s National Health System. All admissions are scheduled as part of the rehabilitation treatment program. Patients are admitted as inpatient transfers from other hospitals, either in or out of state, and are occasionally admitted as outpatients from home.
The inpatient pediatric rehabilitation program's main goal is to facilitate and maximize function for return to school, community reintegration and wellness. Together with the patient and his or her parents served, team members focus on maximizing functional independence through patient education and treatment, caregiver education, adaptive techniques, exercise, training in activities of daily living, functional mobility and fine motor training, communication enhancement, equipment evaluation, and focus on prevention of impairment.

The rehabilitation clinical nurse is a key member of the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered rehabilitation nursing services to individuals with a disability and/or chronic illness to attain and maintain maximum function. The rehabilitation clinical nurse assists patients in adapting to an altered lifestyle, while providing a therapeutic environment for client's and their family's development. The rehabilitation clinical nurse designs and implements treatment strategies based on scientific nursing theory related to self-care and promotes physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health. Rehabilitation Nurses perform in roles as Teachers, Caregivers, Collaborators and Client Advocates. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will add “Life to Years” for the patients you will serve.
This position has a hiring range of $37.50 - $54.92
