Position Summary:
To assist and educate staff to coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements:
Formal Education / Training:
1. Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
2. Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
3. CPR/BLS within 90 days of hire.
4. ACLS within 6 months of hire.
5. Basic Arrythmia within 6 months of hire.

Workplace Experience:
1. At least five years of medsurg and/or critical care patient care delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:
Standard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment: Network Computer System, Pneumatic Tube System, Omnicell Medication System; Telemetry Monitors; AT&T Language line, Telemetry course preferred.

Physical Environment:
A medical/surgical/critical care units whose patient population ranges from pediatric through geriatric.

Physical Effort:
1. Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
2. Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
3. Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.

Key Results:
Promotes and maintains quality patient care by guiding and coaching staff within the nursing department.
Rounds and assists staff in patient care delivery throughout the inpatient setting.
Mentors and educates staff to enhance the patient centered care model and individual plan of care
Functions as a resource for clinical decision making and skills in clinical care.
Works closely with staff to develop an environment that promotes staff growth, role competency and proficiency in nursing skills/critical thinking.
Provides superior patient/family customer service to align with the overall expectation of a positive patient experience
Serves as a role model for excellence in clinical care and the overall patient experience.
Utilizes novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff and considers the learning style of the individual.
Uses and reinforces correct procedures, policies and practices when educating staff.
Identifies consistent learning needs and gaps in staff competencies in order to work with the Education Department to provide hospital wide training.
Communicates to the unit directors any staff concerns regarding practice gaps.
Maintains personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors, and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness and safety.
