Position Summary

The Pediatric Ambulatory Subspecialty practice RN will provide support to the patients who are seeking care and treatment within our outpatient practice. This CDCES certified or CDCES eligible RN will provide nursing care to our pediatric patients and support a variety of pediatric subspecialties including, but not limit to, allergy and immunology, adolescent medicine, cardiology, endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, genetics, pulmonary, and rheumatology. As an integral part of the practice, the RN will facilitate the flow of practice as directed by clinical and administrative leadership. The RN will provide direct patient care within scope of practice; provide phlebotomy and Point of Care testing. The qualified candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, developing, and documenting discharge plans, administering medications/vaccines, and interventions within their scope. The RN will review, monitor, and order medications and supplies as needed. This candidate will provide patient phone triage, patient/family education, referral coordination, and obtain prior authorizations for medications. Shared responsibilities associated with this position include high risk counseling, training, and management for pediatric patients with diabetes and their families.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • BSN or arelated Bachelor\'s degree required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) NYS license required
  • One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical surgical or step-down.
  • Pediatric experience required.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association are required.
  • Infection Control training required.
  • Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) certification (or eligibility)
