SUMMARY: Oversees all aspects of operation for the Shipping Department. Ensures parts are packaged and shipped via customer required codes and freight carriers. Ships product for multiple product lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversees all scheduling of shipping.
- Supervises, monitors, and motivates all shipping personnel.
- Studies shipping schedules and estimates requirements for job completion.
- Reviews daily reports and notifies production of any part shortages.
- Identifies orders that need to be pulled early.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, cost targets, and quality standards.
- Works with outside vendors. (Fed ex, UPS, etc).
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of areas.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists in solving work problems.
- Oversees troubleshooting for shipping.
- Trains and instructs subordinates on shipping equipment.
- Maintains shipping and stock supplies as required.
- Maintains forklift and certifies operators.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through:
- Completion two-year college or technical or vocational school degree or certificate,
- Two to three years related experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
