DescriptionSummary:
Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
The medical-surgical unit is a 36-bed unit that provides exceptional care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and post-op care for various conditions, infections, COPD, pneumonia, and other respiratory disorders. We also care for general medical-surgical patients. The mix of patients on this floor makes it a great starting point for nurses in our Residency Program and for nurses who wish to become Certified in medical-surgical Nursing and work at the top of their license with this population of rewarding and challenging patients. We are a state-of-the-art hospital with a brand-new unit. We value the voice of our team and encourage participation and unit-based council in Shared Governance. Requirements:
Education/Skills
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care
Experience
- One-year experience in nursing preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Current Texas State RN License
- CPR (American Heart Association)
