Essential Duties and Tasks
- Fabricate or modify parts to make/repair machine tools, components and associated equipment to support maintenance and minimize production downtime.
- Applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and procedures
- Plan actions, steps, and activities necessary to produce precision parts to specifications using manual and automated tools such as but not limited to lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders to complete the project or batch.
- Monitor, maintain and adjust process to produce to specifications.
- Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Record approved and defective units or finished products and complete all other required process documentation
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Experience Preferred
Technical school specializing in fabrication or machinist training or comparable US military technical training programs
- Experience 2 + years as machinist including fabricating custom-designed hardware
Ability to improvise and create required parts and components from a sketch
- Experience with the concepts and principles of the fabrication, tools and equipment.
- Solid working knowledge of machine tools and equipment such as lathes, milling, shapers, grinders
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Outlook email and calendar.
- Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
Strong command of English language and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
