We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President II, Investments Credit Risk to join our BNY Investment Risk team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA in a Hybrid work environment.
About the team:
Investment Risk at BNY is an oversight function within the second line of defense, responsible for the oversight of BNY Investments and its specialist investment firms, including Mellon Investment Co. and Dreyfus Funds. The team’s duty is to ensure that risk for our clients and our bank is identified, measured, reported and controlled by the first line of defense.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Work as subject matter aspect for Asset Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) and consumer ABS with the Dreyfus Credit Research group supporting underwriting across different types of short-duration investment portfolios.
- Conduct financial analysis, research, market and issuer outreach to underwrite credit and document recommendation via credit memos that present evidence and explain rationale for recommendations.
- Present recommendations for credit approval to senior management.
- Support portfolio management and interact frequently and independently with portfolio managers, industry practitioners, rating agencies, program sponsors and issuers.
- Underwrite a range of private label securitizations including RMBS, CMBS and CRTs as part of credit team supporting principal securities finance group. Analyze cashflows, structure, market and likely scenarios to recommend margin requirements.
- Contribute to the global identification of existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline and implement solutions. Ensure proper procedure and documentation.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor‘s degree in Finance, or related discipline and combination of experience.
- 7-10 years of industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Asset Backed Commercial Paper (knowledge of both US and Canada strongly preferred) and consumer ABS market.
- Excellent and demonstrable communication, written, and presentation skills are required.
- Intex knowledge preferred. Knowledge of RMBS, CMBS and similar structured products strongly preferred. Knowledge of rating agency standards, Moody’s analytics, Blackrock Aladdin.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $81,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
