Job Summary:
Responsible for managing the pharmacy access department which includes overcoming cost and coverage barriers for outpatient medications to increase access and alleviate the financial burden for patients. Manages a team of pharmacy coordinators and specialists in the day-to-day operations of applicable pharmacy access services and scope of work across the health system. Collaborates with ministry, regional, and system leaders to ensure policies and processes are in place for safe, effective, and fiscally responsible pharmacy access services.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides oversight and supervision of quality assurance, policies, regulatory requirements, and educational directives within the organization’s pharmacy access department using knowledge of federal, state and joint commission regulations pertaining to pharmacy practice.
- Develops, leads, and maintains cross-functional relationships with organizational leaders in areas of pharmacy, medical group, hospital operations, revenue cycle, patient access, continuous improvement, etc.
- Develops and uses analytical tools and performance metrics to complete value analyses. Oversees/manages the implementation of team decisions for pharmacy access services within scope.
- Develops and implements quality improvement activities and ensures compliance with patient care and medication practice standards within their assigned scope of service. Assesses and improves the performance of pharmacy access services within scope.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all organizational product/service needs and industry developments related to assigned pharmacy access categories.
- Identifies and develops cost reduction ideas and initiatives, working with key stakeholders for the most effective strategy for implementation.
- Recruits, engages, develops, leads, and manages assigned staff.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Pharmacy degree (PharmD; Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited school of pharmacy
EXPERIENCE
- Two years’ experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
