JOB SUMMARY

Corporate Financial Accounting (“CFA”) is responsible for the accounting and reporting relating to Marriott’s investment, development, joint venture, foreign exchange, debt, Environment, Social, and Governance, and banking activities. The Sr. Director, Joint Venture and Foreign Exchange Accounting directs a team responsible for multiple financial accounting and reporting aspects of Marriott’s joint venture portfolio and foreign currency transactions, translations, and derivative instruments, including overseeing related system and review controls, and monitoring foreign currency exposures. A central role of the position is to act as Marriott’s accounting matters technical expert, while directing a multi-tiered team of professionals responsible for producing functional financial information utilized by various internal and external stakeholders and organizations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required
•BS/BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
•8+ years of progressive job experience in accounting/finance field; significant international accounting exposure strongly preferred.
•6+ years of experience in a management role; demonstrated success leading and managing staff in a complex, service intensive, deadline-driven environment.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Joint Venture Accounting and Reporting
•Collaborate with various Marriott departments to guide the development of joint venture agreements, ensuring essential provisions for timely financial reporting. Engage with third-party partners as needed for negotiations.
•Establish and maintain processes that ensure compliance with JV agreement financial terms, working closely with finance teams of joint venture partners to facilitate the generation of audited financial statements, declaration and payment of distributions, and capital infusions.
•Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of Marriott’s interests in joint ventures that comply with both U.S. and applicable local (non-U.S.) reporting standards.
•For non-U.S. ventures, identify and apply adjustments necessary to translate local country GAAP or IFRS to U.S. GAAP in the underlying JV financial statements, achieved either by the internal team or through the engagement, oversight, and management of service providers.
•Oversee JV-related reporting processes that deliver critical information to a range of stakeholders, including Business Partners, Continent finance teams, Asset Managers, Financial Reporting and Analysis, auditors, and investor relations. This includes providing analyses of JV results, footnote disclosures, impairment analyses, budgets and forecasts, and Prepared By Client schedules.
•Offer financial expertise and support to transactors for non-recurring transactions, such as debt/equity conversions and equity interest transactions, including purchases and sales.
Foreign Exchange Accounting & Reporting
•Ensure proper accounting for foreign transactions across the enterprise, including financial statement translation and foreign currency transactions.
•Assess foreign currency hedging transactions to determine the correct accounting treatment.
•Conduct qualitative reviews of Marriott’s business model to identify foreign currency exposures and provide actionable data to stakeholders for the development of effective hedging strategies.
•Analyze foreign currency activity in Marriott’s financial results to ensure it aligns with expectations relative to the company’s foreign asset and liability exposure.
•Maintain and improve periodic reporting of foreign exchange activity for key stakeholders, including senior management.
•Ensure accurate, timely completion of external reporting (10-K, 10-Q) disclosures related to foreign exchange, derivatives, and hedging.
•Determine the appropriate functional currency for international subsidiaries and branches.
•Manage systems and controls to ensure compliance with foreign exchange reporting and reconciliation requirements, as well as foreign currency hedging.

The salary range for this position is $180,900 to $241,700 annually.
