JOB DESCRIPTON

Assist in the management of the specification, design and procurement of molding tools for multiple tooling projects, under the supervision of the Director, Engineering & Program Management.

Responsibilities:
  • Estimate production rates, part weights and other factors necessary to determine part costs and press selection.
  • Review parts and part prints and provide information on moldability, material considerations and performance. Ensure multiple part compatibility. Participate in DFM, DFF, DFEMA, and PFEMAs.
  • Specify tool parameters, obtain tool quotes from qualified vendors in accordance with company mold specifications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of quotes and recommend vendors to ensure overall project cost and completion criteria are met.
  • Participate in the review of detailed tool designs.
  • Assist in tool acceptance trials, accomplish corrections to provide acceptable parts and optimize productivity.
  • Participate in the identification and correction of mold and molding problems. Specify maintenance requirements and parts.
  • Participate on Continuous Improvement Teams to increase productivity and quality.
  • Assist in the technical assistance for molds and processes.
  • Assist in the management of mold maintenance projects.

Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Tooling Engineer, Tool & Die Maker looking to take the next step, or entry-level with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with plastics/injection molding is a plus.
  • Experience with tooling is a plus.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical way.
