YOUR ROLE
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Data Architecture & Governance to execute our data strategy, design innovative hybrid data architectures, and ensure the adoption of robust governance practices across the organization. This role will oversee a team of data management professionals ensuring that the team is aligned with our strategic business goals and equipped with the skills needed to execute and deliver. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture and governance, coupled with the leadership skills needed to drive change and align data initiatives with our business objectives.
What you will be doing
- Data Strategy Leadership: Enhance and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with business goals, balancing innovation with operational excellence. Support and drive the vision for how data is stored, processed, managed, and utilized across the organization.
• Architectural Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures, including bridging our cloud and on-premise environments. Ensure the architecture supports analytics, data warehousing, near real time data processing, and machine learning needs.
• Data Governance Frameworks: Oversee data governance frameworks that ensure high levels of data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement standards for data stewardship, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of data architects and data governance professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
• Stakeholder engagement: Partner with key business and IT stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure that the data initiatives support and enable business objectives. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on data related decisions.
• Cloud Migration & Optimization: Drive the transformation of existing data capabilities from on-premise to cloud platforms, creating a strategic roadmap for migration while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data architecture, data management, and governance. Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovative solutions that add value to the organization.
What you bring
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, and/or data governance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing hybrid cloud and on-premise data architectures.
- Strong background in developing and enforcing data governance frameworks and managing change within large organizations.
- Expertise in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, and on premise database technologies (e.g. Oracle, Greenplum, SQL Server).
- Proficiency in data integration, ETL processes, and data modeling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with a proven ability to align data initiatives with business objectives.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects from conception to execution.
NICE TO HAVE
- Certification in data architecture, cloud platforms, or data governance (e.g. Microsoft Certified Azure Architect)
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Kafka) and data science frameworks/tools (e.g. Python and machine learning platforms).
- Familiarity with Life/LTC Insurance processes and terminology.

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $ 126,800 up to the maximum of $246,400. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 20% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
