The Senior Process Engineer will develop and optimize the EV battery production process to improve safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability. The role will develop, monitor, analyze, and implement new processes, procedures, and equipment as needed.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and optimize productivity, yield, and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
- Responsible for defect rate monitoring, improvement & product sustainability in manufacturing
- Lead product and process Continuous Improvement (CI) and development activities
- Implement Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols
- Enhance processes in battery manufacturing systems, including implementing lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen projects
- Lead Cross-functional Team (CFT) based activities with production and maintenance to troubleshoot inefficiencies and optimize productivity
- Analyze safety and quality issues to recommend corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and eliminate future defects
- Create, maintain, and update various Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure all operators develop a full understanding of process changes
- Monitor and maintain all Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production flow from one process step to the next
- Prepare for and participate in daily/weekly/monthly meetings with other teams
- Conduct training for process engineers
- Organizing, controlling and supervising subordinates. Completing tasks relative to the job, ensuring that the work processes meet the standards that are expected in a timely manner
- Driving and monitoring KPI to accomplish departmental goals
- Any other task what is given by the employee's superior and requires similar skills and competence
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology equivalent
- 3+ years' experience in a highly automated production environment and continuous improvement
- Experience in time studies, line balancing, lean manufacturing, bottleneck analysis, PFMEAs, and process controls
- Experience in validation of needed equipment capacities, commissioning and ramp- up schedules
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Windows suite
- Experience in ERP systems, or equivalent
- Skilled in handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven self-starter and motivator
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced Degree
- Proficient in application of statistical knowledge and tools such as Minitab or JMP
- Working understanding of vision systems (such as Keyence or Cognex) and/or X-ray system for inspection
- Technical know-how of electrochemistry, Li-ion battery, coating technology
- Experience in material management and control
- Knowledge of laser welding and/or plasma cleaning
- Experience with adhesive applications
- Experience and knowledge of powder mixing
Experience with PLC programing (Mitsubishi preferred)
