Preferred Skills and Experience: Minimum of two years of leadership experience, preferably, supervising mechanics / technicians in a shop. Experience with maintenance and repair of heavy trucks and/or equipment; electric and hydraulics. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Schedule: Start time is 2:00 pm

Travel: As needed, may include two weeks of training in AZ

I. Job Summary

Supervises and provides direct leadership for technicians. Manages workflow and assigns tasks.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of employees in the maintenance shop.
  • Coordinates and supervises all maintenance work and repairs, and monitors progress and quality.
  • Reviews driver repairs and other maintenance requests and prepares work order documents.
  • Performs mechanical duties as needed.
  • Monitors inventory of replacement parts and restocks as needed.
  • Oversees personnel including coaching, training, evaluating employee performance, and conducting disciplinary action as needed. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
  • Creates and submits reports as necessary.
  • Direct supervision of, approximately, ten employees, including: Lead Technician, Technicians, (heavy duty trucks)
  • May support District Fleet Manager with oversight of one or more other WM shops, remotely or onsite, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • 4 years of relevant work experience, (in addition to education requirements)
  • Valid Driver's License

  • This job operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
