Progressive Care Unit Seasonal Specialty Rate: $62/hr plus applicable differentials

Schedule: Days 7A-7P

Seasonal Program Requirements – Seasonal PRN Status with a Full-Time Schedule – Program Runs 8/25/24-4/5/25

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period
  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need
  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period
  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses
  • Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation
  • Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year
  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program
  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience in our 35 bed Progressive Care/Critical Care Stepdown Unit.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact licensure
  • Associate Degree; BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience as an RN in a high acuity PCU or critical care unit
