JOB SUMMARY
The Advanced Practice Provider utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The APP will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
PRACTICE SPECIFICS:
- Joining a team of 2 inpatient APPs who practice regularly with a hospitalist, an on-call Hematology/Oncology MD and coordinate with multiple consulting services as appropriate.
- Care for hospitalized cancer patients (receiving chemotherapy and admitted due complications related to their disease and/or treatment).
- In conjunction with the Hematology/Oncology MD assist in the diagnosis and workup of hospitalized patients with new hematology or oncologic malignancies
- As a team, managing an average hospital service of 16-20 patients.
- Overall Hematology/Oncology team of 7MD’s and 8 APP’s
- Weekly multidisciplinary Tumor Boards
- Regionally recognized as a leader in cancer care
