As a new 6,000 square foot facility just a short commute away from Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, this hospital will feature 5 exam rooms, a surgery suite, and ample treatment space. We know wait times in the ER can be frustrating, so the goal is to create a free flow between hospitals to serve our community and their pets to the best of our ability.
In addition to urgent care services, this location will benefit from having a team of specialists onsite including a boarded surgeon, a boarded internist, and a boarded radiologist. You will also have a direct connection to the rest of our specialists at MVA, eliminating the barrier for new consults when you need them most.
We are looking to add to our growing hospital and are in search of a veterinary nurse (vet tech) to join our Surgery Department. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for surgery and anesthesia, excellent interpersonal skills, is extremely organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.The schedule we are hiring for are Tuesday-Friday 6a-4p.
- A minimum of 1-2 years in veterinary medicine is required.
- Surgery/Anesthesia experience is preferred.
- Current CVT/LVT/RVT preferred or educational equivalent.
Requirements
- Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing, anesthesia)
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology and medications
- Assist Surgical Department in a variety of tasks
- Assist in surgeries, procedures and appointments
- Communicate with clients, and team members (verbally and written)
- Proficient computer skills
- Preform patient admits and discharges
- Perform anesthesia/sedation on surgical patients
- Process lab samples
- Preform patient treatments/diagnostics
- Ensure the availability and sterility of instrumentation
- Perform effective and efficient decontamination, cleaning, inspection, pack preparation and sterilization of all surgical instruments, anesthesia hoses, endotracheal tubes, and supplies
- Knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies including name, location, and application.
- Knowledge of varying sterilization techniques and autoclave operation
- Autoclave maintenance
- Effectively coordinate Surgery Service appointment schedule with anticipation of change
- Prioritize the needs of the Surgery team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
- Attention to detail and a calm demeanor required
- Ability to work independently at times, focus, prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Fear Free handling: safe stress-free interactions for team members, clients and patients
- Other tasks as assigned
