Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for an OR Operations Control Clerk to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!

The OR Operations Control Clerk coordinates communications and functions within the surgical suite control desk (Inpatient OR, SDS, Endourology). The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth operation of the surgical schedule, maintaining accuracy and efficiency in accordance with hospital policies, regulations, and standards.

Primary Duties:

·Coordinate changes to the daily surgical schedule, including add-ons and urgent cases, and update the Master OR Schedules and computerized systems.

·Communicate changes in surgical times, procedures, and patient status with relevant departments and personnel.

·Initiate calls for assistance during emergencies and report technical issues affecting equipment or systems.

·Ensure proper patient preparation by informing Nursing Units to premedicate and coordinating transportation for patients to the appropriate areas.

·Operate intercom, automated systems, and pneumatic tube system to manage reports, room assignments, and lab requests.

·Maintain accurate records, including OR record requests and verification of blood availability with the blood bank.

·Coordinate with Anesthesia and OR Ancillary personnel for room cleaning post-procedure.

·Uphold Guest and Staff Relations standards in all interactions and assist with additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

·High School Diploma or GED.

·2+ years hospital work experience as a medical secretary or a unit secretary, including one year operations control clerk experience.
