Lodi Hospital’s East Wing is considered a med/surg unit that can be used for swing, rehab, observation, and inpatient care. Caregivers in this unit wear multiple hats and are known for being a flexible, versatile and small team. This team welcomes new grad RNs and LPN to RN program participants to apply!

A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm – 7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Coordinate total nursing care for assigned patients.

  • Utilize the nursing process in planning and achieving goal-directed outcomes for patient care.

  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary team personnel.

  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department.

  • Assume responsibility for maintaining current nursing knowledge and proficiency in nursing skills required to perform activities on assigned nursing unit.

  • Prioritize nursing care for assigned patients based on assessment data and identified needs using critical thinking skills.

  • Assess urgent and emergent health conditions using both physiologically and technologically derived data.

  • Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patients' condition.

  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient condition.

  • Recognize and report abnormal clinical results and report to physician in a timely manner.

  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient responses and conditions.

  • Delegate and supervise nursing care in accordance with the identified needs of the patients, caregiver capabilities and workload.

  • Administer medications in compliance with hospital policy and maintain current knowledge of medications.

  • Document data related to patients care including medical history, assessment results, interventions, medications, patient responses, or treatment changes.

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

  • Manage patient pain relief by providing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, monitoring patient responses, and changing care plans accordingly.

  • Advocate for patient and family needsand/or provide emotional support for patients and their families.

  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.

  • Instruct patients, families and others on topics such as health education, disease prevention and care, and discharge instructions.

  • Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.

  • Assumes Charge Nurse duties as needed.

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements, applicable certification/licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
