Join our team as an HSSE Specialist where you will play a key role in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. As a vital member of our operations team, you will support our Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management programs, while actively contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with key regulations including:
- Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119)
- Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response (HAZWOPER, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120)
- Chemical Accident Prevention (EPA 40 CFR 68)
- Indiana State Safety Regulations
Health & Safety Programs: Administer and support health and safety programs, including industrial hygiene, first aid, and emergency response operations.
- Serve as primary backup to the HSSE Manager in loss prevention and safety-related matters.
- Develop, track, and maintain safety and environmental compliance data, including safety audits, inspections, and hazard communication.
Training & Development: Lead safety and health training programs across the organization, including:
- Conducting Level 1, 2, and 3 safety training for various departments.
- Assist in forklift training, incident investigations, and hazard recognition programs.
- Provide guidance on personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocol.
Field Safety Oversight: Be actively involved in field safety activities with an estimated 70% field-based duties. Support plant operations and maintenance activities with direct oversight, safety audits, and guidance.
Emergency Response: Lead emergency medical response and fire/spill response operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related field, or at least 5 years of plant operation experience in a health and safety capacity.
- Experience: Solid knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state safety regulations; experience with industrial hygiene, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SharePoint, OneNote, and TEAMS.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Medical and emergency response training and capabilities.
Additional Information:
- This position will be based on-site at our plant with travel to our Minnesota St. HUB as needed.
- A combination of 70% field activities and 30% administrative tasks.
- Minimal overnight travel is required.
