General Summary of Position
Nurses on Postpartum Unit 5D/5F are committed to providing family-centered care to every family.To promote healthy birth outcomes, we manage the high-risk antenatal population in conjunction with the “Special Mom, Special Baby” Program. In this program we see a wide variety of diagnoses that include but not limited to congenital anomalies of mother and/or baby, premature rupture of membranes, diabetic management, hypertension etc. Our achievement of Baby Friendly Designationdemonstratesour commitment to supporting our community with initiation, promotion, and suitability along their breastfeeding journey. Additionally, the interdisciplinary healthcare team collaborates to ensure rooming-in, skin to skin, and breastfeeding exclusivity isaccomplished.Above all, ourpostpartum nurses are proficient with consistently assessing,identifying, and addressing patient’s educational needs and barriers to learning.

Qualifications
- ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.
- Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
