Position Overview
A Radiation Oncology Nurse is one who specializes in providing nursing care for patients receiving radiation therapy to treat cancer. Unit Highlights
Radiation Oncology Nurses are highly specialized nurses whose primary responsibility is to provide care to patients who are receiving some form of radiation therapy for cancer. These nurses are specially trained to assist patients before, during, and after radiation treatment. They provide physical, psychological, and emotional care to patients throughout their treatment, and serve as a crucial asset in supporting those affected by cancer. They assist in the coordination of radiation therapy treatments by providing education on what to expect during treatment, teaching safety measures to be taken during radiation, and by helping to ease any anxiety the patient may have. They review a patient's medical history and test results prior to any procedures. Collaborate with other medical professionals to assess the patient's progress throughout their therapy sessions. In addition to their roles as liaisons between their patients and the radiation team, Radiation Oncology Nurses are a consistent source of support to their patients in their times of need, helping them to cope with the symptoms of radiation treatment. By running clinical tests, providing educational resources, and fostering a strong rapport with their patients, Radiation Oncology Nurses make a tremendous difference in the lives of those battling cancer.

Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical Staff, and leaders of other departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.

Qualifications
·ADN, BSN, MSN from an accredited school of Nursing required.
·Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
·Prior Clinical nursing experience preferred.
·Oncology and Radiation Oncology experience preferred.
