We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Facilities Operations and Maintenance team at . This role involves maintaining, repairing, and optimizing a range of HVAC systems, including fan coil units, chillers, and conventional split systems, to ensure a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient environment for students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in HVAC systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in campus facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance & Repair:
•Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on fan coil units, chillers, split systems, and other HVAC equipment.
•Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues in HVAC systems.
System Optimization & Compliance:
•Optimize system performance to achieve energy efficiency and meet university sustainability goals.
•Ensure HVAC systems comply with safety and operational standards, codes, and university policies.
Emergency Response:
•Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies during regular shifts and while on-call.
Documentation & Communication:
•Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to log maintenance tasks, generate work orders, and maintain equipment history records.
•Collaborate with other technicians, supervisors, and campus departments to ensure seamless operations.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
•Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools for timely repairs.
•Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements as necessary.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED; technical certification in HVAC or related field preferred.
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HVAC system maintenance and repair, especially with fan coil units, and split systems.
•Valid EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
•Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
•Familiarity with CMMS software is a plus.
•Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
•Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and operate tools safely.
Work Environment:
•Full-time position with occasional after-hours and weekend work as needed.
•Predominantly campus-based, with work conducted in classrooms, labs, dormitories, and mechanical rooms.
