Role Overview
The Estimator will play a critical role in preparing accurate and profitable bids for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and ductwork projects. Working closely with vendors, general contractors, and internal teams, this position ensures projects are bid competitively and align with company goals. Whether you're an experienced professional or an MEP engineer looking to transition into estimating, Vermont Mechanical offers comprehensive training and support to help you succeed in this dynamic field.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed and accurate estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal construction projects.
- Interpret blueprints and specifications to prepare comprehensive bids that include materials, equipment, labor, and specialty items.
- Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and customers to gather information, negotiate pricing, and refine bids.
- Leverage software tools such as Trimble MEP (training provided), Microsoft Office, and Procore to manage bids and proposals efficiently.
- Analyze and compare contract documents and bid specifications to deliver high-quality proposals.
- Promote and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and trade partners.
- Participate in site walk-throughs and communicate proactively with general contractors and internal teams to ensure project alignment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing estimating; expertise in piping and sheet metal is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction management tools such as Procore.
- Willingness to learn and utilize Trimble MEP software.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Engineering backgrounds with a desire to transition into estimating are encouraged to apply.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed across VT, NH, Northern NY, and Northern MA.
