911 Communications Nurse - RN
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible to actively navigate 911 callers to appropriate patient care across the health continuum. Our nurses telephonically assess patients and follow established, evidence-based protocols to match patient needs with available local and/or virtual resources. Additional duties include remote monitoring, medical screening, patient education, leadership opportunities, and mentoring as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Demonstrates the ability to function as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Nurse
- Telephonically assesses patients and navigates care based upon evidence-based protocols.
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills
- Must be able to work well with others including team members, patients, caregivers, referral sources, physicians and their staff, facility staff members and the community.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively learn and use computer and required software programs
- Must demonstrate the ability to manage time, resources and documentation requirements
- Provide excellent customer service
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years nurse experience in direct urgent patient care.
- Ideally experienced in Emergency or Acute Care settings
- Behavioral Health experience Care Coordination experience
- Phone assessment and/or triage experience preferred but training is offered
- Experience with clinical data gathering and Ethical Principles
Education:
- Compact License Nurse or RN License required
- Additional CA, DC, NY, MI, and/or OR licensure preferred
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health or any other degree with a focus on community or disease education preferred
Skills:
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Active listening with relevant follow-up questions
- Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and functions
- Demonstrated patient teaching and educational facilitation skills
- Proficient Bilingual translations skills preferred
Credentials/Licenses:
• Maintain an active Nursing License (LVN, LPN) or RN Compact state Nurse License
• Maintain an active CPR card.
Non-exempt - Overtime Eligible Compensation
Salary: LVN/LPN - $30.00 - $33 and a $2,000 retention bonus
Salary: RN $38.00 - $42.50 and a $4,000 retention bonus
Shift Differential $1.25 hour for weeknights $3.00 for weekends
