JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for managing projects from concept to completion.
Responsibilities:
- The ability to create new designs for company machinery to adapt to specific customer needs. This may involve any of the following: Designing completely new equipment based on customer needs and specifications. Redesigning existing equipment to meet a customer's requirements, i.e.: type of feeding apparatus (roll or sheet fed) sheet size, roll size, paper/laminate stock feeding, final product delivery options such as part stacking, sheet stacking, bump and turn deliveries, etc.
- Update existing designs and machinery. The company is a cutting-edge company in the realm of high-volume print finishing and graphics converting for (nationwide) health care credentials national ID, mass market promotional mailers, pull tab gambling tickets, reward and loyalty cards, membership cards etc. In the constantly evolving world of manufacturing, we require someone with the ability to adapt current equipment to ever-changing requirements involving gear boxes, motors, logic controllers, etc... (In other words; adapt and customize equipment to bespoke specifications for very specific client requirements).
- Implement and document changes to existing equipment based on our assembly/service teams recommendations for enhanced operation and equipment performance, and in some cases implement and document those changes on an abbreviated timeline during the start-up and shake down phase of any given contract.
- The company has an extensive catalogue of equipment and parts from over 35 years of developing custom integrated finishing solutions for printers and converters. With this extensive catalogue we have an expansive library of parts created in 2D (AutoCAD). We are in a transitional phase and looking for someone with a strong background in SolidWorks (or another 3D program and willingness and ability to learn SolidWorks) and AutoCAD to assist in the rapid implementation of this transition. This may include creating policies and procedures, workflow designs, and other high-level decisions on the organization of engineering output through these systems.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience.
- Experience with 2D and 3D design. Experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
- Experiencewith industrial/finishing equipment/machine design is a plus.
- Electrical experience is a plus.
- Project management experience.
