Job Description SPOK System Engineer

GDIT is currently seeking a SPOK System Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland to join our team. In this role you will be a change agent by supporting the National Institutes of Health to help ensure the success of the NIH mission.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
The System Engineer is a member of the Paging Infrastructure team that is responsible for the administration and operations of a critical Paging Service infrastructure for a large Federal Government Health organization. Paging Infrastructure consists of Windows Servers, Database Servers, Web Servers, Application Servers, Load Balancers, Firewall, Networking, Avaya PBX, Phone Systems, Alphanumeric Pagers, Mobile Phones, Zetron, American Amplifier, Alpha Mate, etc.
The technician is responsible for the support of various in-house-developed web sites and applications along with commercial applications (i.e. Spok WebXchange and Spok Mobile). Support for these applications shall entail support for the database structure and configuration, the API integration methodology, account management and end user support.
- Provide Windows/IIS/SQL systems administration support in a production 24x7 environment, with rotating on-call duties.
- Provide problem management and troubleshooting support and diagnose and resolve critical software and server issues.
- Develop, configure, and test new server builds.
- Test and update Windows server applications as needed.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs (i.e. backup, scripts)
- Provide Windows Server infrastructure troubleshooting and support
- Builds, tests, monitors, and configures patch deployments using various automated tools for both physical and virtual environments.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of detailed and accurate documentation as requested by the Service Manager, team lead and/or CTR. (Documentation may be required for operational procedures, troubleshooting aids, and technical analyses for products, features, and capabilities)
- Provide regular feedback to team and management on the performance and risks.
- Collaborate with product development teams to plan new features for systems enhancements.
- Participate in planning and scoping meetings for future projects/tasks.
- Work cross functionally to resolve complex customer problems.
- May be required to perform other related duties
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field or seven years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Spok and similar communication systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in system engineering or administration.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- ITIL certification preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) are a plus
Security Clearance Level:
- Ability to obtain and maintain an NIH Public Trust clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
