Our client is looking for a skilled, high-potential Director of Operations to oversee the whole of their manufacturing operation in Joplin, MO. This role reports directly to the CMO (Chief Manufacturing Officer) at the parent company. There is great growth opportunity here, as we are actively working to increase revenue/output for this facility as much as 60% in the near future. The parent company here has been driving multiple mergers and acquisitions, seeing significant sales growth, and is on the cusp of several senior and middle management individuals retiring in the near future.
In light of these ambitious (but attainable) goals, the Director of Operations needs to be someone who will dig down into issues and keep things improving over time - not just maintain a current state. This position is open now - we are looking to hire in the very near future, to get this role filled.
Compensation for this position:
- $135-155k salary (open to discussion)
- Direct Hire: W2, Full-Time, Long Term

We are need someone with a good amount of broad, senior management experience in Manufacturing settings. A bachelor's degree is preferred, though extensive and proven work experience may be considered as a substitute. A Masters in business, finance, or other related field would be excellent.
What this job looks like logistically:
- This facility currently has about:
- 150-250 Employees
- $20-30 million annual revenue
- As a Salaried, Office employee at this location, you can expect to work:
- 7-8 am daily start time, 4-5 pm end
- 45-50 hours per week
- Monday through Friday (no weekends)
- This is an In-office, onsite role - there are no standing WFH days
- BUT you are able to WFH when needed (personal appointment, sick kid, etc.)
The Responsibilities of the Operations Director will primarily include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Manage direct reports in all aspects and support remaining team members.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives to new hires and veteran staff.
- Provide direction, development, and leadership to Production Management.
- Conduct performance appraisals to direct reports and provide coaching and guidance to all employees.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, purchasing and repair expenses.
- Maintain existing equipment; replace or make adjustments and/or suggestions to/for plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing practices.
- Oversee new product launches and implementation of product designs.
- Maintain strong communication with customer(s) and management team.
- Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
- Assist with all personnel matters as needed alongside Human Resources.
- Review established production schedules for all departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
- Assist with the costing of new products and provide support to Senior Engineering team.
- Oversee the financials of the facility and work with Accounting and Corporate Management to ensure all items are reported and accurate.
Quality Control
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with company standards and/or specifications.
- Directing various objectives to maximize profitability
- Monitor scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
Safety
- Personally accountable for preventing injuries, minimizing absenteeism due to illness, and for protecting Company assets.
- Acceptance amongst all team members of safety responsibility, personal alertness and following plant safety rules is mandatory.
- Team wide understanding of the location, use and purpose of all safety equipment in corresponding work areas.
- All emergency equipment, fire doors and emergency exit routes are to be kept unobstructed and in good condition.
- Adhere to personal protection guidelines set forth by the company.
- Maintain a sense of orderliness, keeping materials, supplies, and equipment well organized and in good condition.
- All guards must be in place prior to routine operation of any equipment and must be inspected daily.
