Summary

Assists Executive Chef with day to day operation of the Food & Nutrition Production Operation. Directly supervises all areas of production, both patient, and retail areas; ensures all foods are prepared efficiently; all work areas and equipment area's and equipment are maintained according to hospital and departmental policies, safety, and sanitation requirements. Duties performed will vary depending on specific areas assigned.
Supervises Day to Day Operation of the Food and Nutrition Production area. Reports directly to the Executive Chef. Schedules daily kitchen and food production for on-time service for patient services, retail, and catering. Including but not limited to preparing hot and cold foods with a variety of culinary field concepts and procedures (i. e. : broiling). Reviews menu and production sheets, following instructions and assignments by the Executive Chef. Ensures 100% compliance with scheduled production sheets and recipes. Follows recipes and proper production methods to complete preparation of assigned menu items. Directs and reports to the Executive Chef any problems concerning food quality, equipment, sanitation, safety, diet restrictions, portion control, and product consistency. Ensures production work areas, facilities, and equipment is clean, orderly, and in good working condition. Reports any equipment issues to maintenance/HELP line, green tags items, and reports issues to Executive Chef.
Acts as a liaison for patients, families, physicians and staff members as necessary to facilitate positive customer service. Displays an understanding and awareness of and performs all duties in accordance with the Hospital's Mission and Vision statements. Quickly and professionally responds to patients/customers requests, and provides services or assistance requested to the satisfaction of the customer. Responds to patients, customers, physicians, and staff members for information and assistance in a timely and professional manner.
Displays a commitment to the value of customer service by building strong relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and community; is cooperative and collaborative in the performance of duties to promote a unified workplace. Assists with training of new employees in the department. Participates and contributes in departmental meetings, in-services as well as safety classes. Takes an active role in presenting a professional image of the organization by following established dress code for the department/Hospital and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Works additional shifts as required to provide necessary staffing in order to effectively provide acceptable service levels to customers. Supports department and organizational wide decisions. Works effectively and equitable with others.
