Maxar is seeking forward-leaning Mission Solutions Engineer to work in an agile environment supporting a user base with a mission to solve unique and challenging problems in support of national security. The ideal candidate possesses Intelligence Analyst experience with abilities to support software development (agile lifecycle, design, test) for the Motion GEOINT domain. We are seeking a teammate who is passionate about creating solutions to positively impact our intelligence analysts. The ideal candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary software development and operations team and have the unique opportunity to interact directly with users and other technologists to ensure solutions, development and capabilities meet the needs of national security.

Note: US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory for this position and required for consideration. Consideration to acquire CI Poly possible.

Location: Herndon, VA (possible Springfield, VA)

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with community stakeholders to understand emerging analysis and exploitation workflow requirements. Effectively define and prioritize those needs into tasks with the developer team.
  • Manage and adapt the SAFe Agile processes to support project requirements for collaboratively planning and running our project plan and schedule.
  • Serve as Product Owner and Scrum master on the team.
  • Provide input into full project lifecycle execution including: ConOps, requirements development and definition, task estimation, oversight of system design and developer implementation, systems integration, verification, and test (IVT), data interface integration, operational support, and user documentation.
  • Support quarterly field training and user engagement.
  • Test and evaluate new system capabilities to support readiness to deploy into Operations
  • Create or modify documentation to support product release, cybersecurity accreditation, user training, and user reference materials
  • Create enablers and communicate with multidisciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.

Skills Required:

  • 10+ years supporting the military/IC, or knowledge of some IC PED systems
  • 10+ years as Intelligence Analyst, Project Engineer, Systems Engineer, and/or Software Engineering
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is quick to understand tasking. Capable of working effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team
  • Communicates effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums
  • Critical thinker with proven problem-solving skills
  • Must be flexible, organized, and understand the big picture but can focus on the mission-critical details
  • Willingness to work onsite 50% or as needs dictate
  • Willing to travel outside DMV 25%
  • Demonstrated experience in Intelligence Analysis, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or GIS
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship

Additional Skills Desired:

Some familiarity in these areas would be fabulous.

  • MTI (Moving Target Indicator), FMV (Full Motion Video), C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, PED (Processing, Exploitation, & Dissemination) . GIS (Geospatial Information Systems)
  • Supporting custom software solutions for the intelligence community, geospatial context, and/or big data analytics
  • Familiarity with concepts such as data visualization; data management, data integration, user interface, databases
  • Confluence, Jira
  • Agile, Scrum master, Product Owner

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $131,000.00 - $219,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
