General Summary of Position

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital RRT:

Rapid Response Nurses are at part of the medical team who respond to medical emergencies in the hospital.A nurse caring for patient whom they believe are clinically unstable are encouraged to call a “Rapid Response”.The Rapid Response nurse arrives urgently to the bedside to provide quick action and assessment of the patient. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) consists of an experienced RN, Respiratory Therapist and Physician.

The RRT Nurse is quickly able to ascertain what is going on with the patient through the use of Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation (SBAR). Under the direction of the medical team, the RR nurse takes the clinical lead from the floor nurse to provides emergent clinical interventions when necessary. The RR nurse plays an invaluable role in management of the acute patient care and education to the floor nursing team.If necessary, the RRT will transport the patent to the ICU for a higher level of care. The Rapid Response nurse is the “link” between two units for safe and expedited transition of care.

The RRT Nurse must have strong communication skills, thrive under pressure, and have significant clinical knowledge. The RRT nurse plays an invaluable role in the care delivery of patients at MWHC. There keen assessment skills help to save many lives and improve overall patient outcomes.There is no doubt that our patients benefit from the quick, multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care.

The RRT is a team of nurses and advanced practiced providers who will ensure the management and implementation of advanced critical care nursing during acute patient situations outside of the adult Intensive care units. The team utilizes a coordinated plan to provide emergency care and/or resuscitation, immediate evaluation, and prompt disposition of in patients, when indicated. The goal of early intervention during clinical deterioration is to improve outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications

·ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.

·Minimum of two years of critical care experience preferred.

·Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers required.

This position has a hiring range of $38.00 - $63.30
