Location: Jacksonville, FL
Days: Nonday - Friday
Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (flexible)
Full-time: Benefit Eligible
In this role, you will:
- Perform a vital part of the patient care process through moderate and high complexity testing
- Analyze, review, and report testing results from blood, tissue/cellular samples
- Ensure clinical testing is performed according to documented lab procedures and best practices, and prioritized in order to meet or exceed TAT
- Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
- Appropriately document and escalate non-conformance to the Molecular Supervisor or Director
- Understand all workflows within the department and offer recommendations to improve processes and assist with implementing new methods or process improvement
- Assist with inventory process
- Maintain CAP Survey documentation
- Assist with creation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and modification of existing SOPs
- Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control
All you need is:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology; or Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science with 1 year of Medical Technology training
- 3+ years of pertinent molecular laboratory experience performing high complexity testing including extensive molecular biology skills (sample prep, DNA extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing) and related technical knowledge
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
- Florida state Clinical Laboratory Personnel license
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment and computer programs, including but not limited to: LIMS, Excel, automated analyzers, robotic liquid handlers, centrifuges, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.
