Main Ingredients of the Job!

As aUS FOODS®Maintenance Mechanic,youwillberesponsible forpartnering with team members across the Transportation Departmenton all clerical functions asrequired, with special emphasis onDOTrules and regulations compliance andreporting.

Greatmaintenance mechanics are crucial to the US FOODS® team and are one of the important faces of our organization. OurMaintenance Mechanicstrivesfor integrity and reliability while building trusting relationships withteam members.

  • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e.pallet jacks,high lifts, forklifts, etc. Dock Doors, restraints Dock Plates Freezer Door,Lighting toensurethat adequate

  • machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations.

  • Review any equipment reportssubmittedby warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, andmaintaina repair log perUSFpolicy.

  • Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, andmaintainPM log with proper documentation, per USF policy.

  • Comply withall USF and government guidelinesregardingsafety when working on equipment (i.e.Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding andrequireddocumentation, safe work environment, etc.)
    Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipmentcontainedtherein.

  • Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area.

  • If authorized, maypurchasetools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties.

What you bring to the table

Education/Training:

  • High School education or equivalent preferred;additionalmechanic training or trade school degree preferred.

RelatedExperience/Requirements:

  • A minimum of six monthspreviousmechanic experience Preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation

  • able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment

  • welding ability

  • able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide); able to work with little directsupervision

  • Computer knowledgerequired(Word, Excel, Outlook)

PreferredSkills:

  • Ability to read and understand vendor technical and repair manuals and wiringschematics,and P &ID’s.>>> What is this Piping and instrumentation diagrams

  • Working knowledge of mechanics, electricity, carpentry, plumbing.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.

  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at varying levels both within and outside the organization.

  • Must be able toprovideyour own tools.

  • Experience with CMMS (Maximo) preferred.

  • Experience dealing with service supply vendors on scheduling and completing repairs.

  • 5years HVAC or Refrigeration experience Preferred.

  • 15 Fire systems Preferred.

  • 15 OSHA and PSM Experience Preferred

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $30 and $35.
