POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:
Inspect, maintain, and service some material handling equipment, pollution control equipment, and various facility equipment throughout the plant. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) measures. Demonstrate a basic level of skill in using appropriate machine and hand tools as prescribed by PMs and assigned work orders. Assist higher level Maintenance Mechanics as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constant standing.
Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.
Occasional carrying, lifting up to 60 lbs, hand use, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, below waist level work, complex neck/spinal motion, and walking.
Minimal climbing, foot use, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent (GEDWorks program eligible).
Basic mechanical and maintenance aptitude.
Ability to use basic math skills.
Ability to read and understand instructions.
Good written and verbal communication.
Ability to present information one-on-one and in small groups.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist higher level mechanics with various job tasks.
Operate forklift truck.
Safely and competently use basic maintenance shop tools.
Follow all plant safety rules including lock out of all plant equipment so that it is safe to work on, use safety equipment appropriate for the job, and be aware of the safety of others.
Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
Ability to meet the essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as outlined in the job description.
