About the team:

Core Technology (CT) is a distributed team responsible for the end-to-end eBay technology platform. This platform runs our entire infrastructure and all the services that come together to formebay.com. We are a world leader in mobile commerce and directly impact the lives of a global population. Our Android apps, with millions of daily active users, facilitate billions in commerce transactions and are the entry point for an increasing number of new customers.

Our tightly knit team enjoys working on large-scale ambitious and exciting problems. We work in small focused, collaborative project teams following an agile methodology. Multi-functional teams including product management, product development, and User Experience Design (UXD) work daily to create a successful product that delights our customers. We're looking for a motivated Android Software Engineer to write high-quality, high-performance, and maintainable code while focusing on scalability, security and user experience.

What you will accomplish:

  • Dive into the minds of our users to create intuitive and engaging mobile experiences.

  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, and plan implementations.

  • Tackle production issues with a resourceful and curious approach.

  • Innovate and improve existing products while developing distributed systems that power one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms.

  • Drive technical excellence and push our technology forward in a collaborative and curious environment.


What you will bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, and modern Android development practices. Familiarity with architectural patterns like MVVM or MVI. Understanding of Android lifecycle, dependency injection, and asynchronous programming.

  • Proficiency in programming languages Kotlin, Java and comfortable with modern Android development tools and frameworks.

  • Proficiency in using Git for version control and experience with collaborative workflows like pull requests and code reviews.

  • Knowledge of GraphQL for API development and integration is a plus. Along with experience in designing and consuming GraphQL APIs, understanding its benefits and potential challenges in scalability and security is a plus.
