Summary

Fori Automation, Lincoln Electric Company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Controls Engineering Hardware Lead to join our team in Shelby Township, Michigan. As a Controls Engineering Hardware Lead, you will be responsible for designing and leading the development of electrical control systems according to project specifications, industry standards, and best practices. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with cross-functional departments, ensure timely project delivery, and provide leadership and guidance to hardware designers.

What You Will Do

  • Electrical Control System Design:
    Lead the design of electrical control systems based on the scope of work, ensuring designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Documentation & Specifications Review:
    Thoroughly review and interpret quotes, customer specifications, and scope of work documents to ensure alignment with project requirements and design feasibility.
  • Collaboration & Project Coordination:
    Collaborate with cross-functional teamsmechanical, software, and project managementto ensure design and development progress align with project timelines and critical milestones.
  • Budget & Schedule Management:
    Partner with the engineering team to ensure hardware designs are delivered on time and within the allocated budget, balancing quality, scope, and timelines.
  • Task & Progress Monitoring:
    Maintain detailed task lists, track project progress, and provide regular reports on open items to ensure clear communication and transparency across the team.
  • Design Documentation & Deliverables:
    Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all project design documentation. Prepare and present customer deliverables in accordance with agreed timelines and specifications.
  • Team Leadership & Delegation:
    Lead and delegate design tasks to hardware designers, ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work. Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members to foster professional growth and a collaborative environment.
  • Work Review & Quality Assurance:
    Track, review, and validate design work completed by hardware designers, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Compliance & Standards Adherence:
    Ensure designs and project activities are in compliance with relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 10 years of experience in controls engineering, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting electrical control systems.
  • Proven experience in a team lead or supervisory role, guiding and mentoring design teams to deliver high-quality control system designs.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical industry standards and regulations (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI).
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical and/or ePLAN for schematic design and documentation. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for project tracking, reporting, and communication.
  • Strong ability to read, design, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and systems. Experience working with Rockwell Logix 5000, Siemens S7-1500 PLCs, and familiarity with AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles), AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), or battery-powered mobile systems.
