A Brief OverviewProvides operational and administrative oversight in the delivery of patient care, serving as a resource person to staff, both clinically and administratively. As the off shift representative of management, supervises staff and makes administrative decisions, which may involve patients and their families staff.
What you will do
- Supervises and directs patient care with consideration of competency and skill levels of staff, assisting with critical or complex patients, and or when activity level is unmanageable.
- Serves as a resource for staff in areas of policy or procedure, ethical or legal questions, and other questions related to the hospital services.
- Monitors staffing levels, coordinates and implements staffing plan to meet patient volume, identify and manage any personnel/patient issues in the absence of clinical leaders.
- Coordinates utilization of resources including staff, ancillary staff, equipment and facilitates patient placement/throughput.
- Investigates problems and complaints from patients, families, physicians, and staff and takes appropriate action. Responsible for customer relations to include resolution of patient complaints, communication or risk management concerns and initiation of appropriate follow up.
- Actively uses the nursing process in goal-focused patient care, demonstrating accountability as an individual and team member.
- Knowledgeable in administration, policies, and are able to interpret these in the absence of administrative staff.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- 1-3 years clinical experience as RN
- supervisory or management experience
