Job Summary and Qualifications
These professionals supervise and direct all aspects of patient care. These duties include providing effective distribution and utilization of personnel with emphasis on staffing for nursing areas by coordinating work schedules and shift coverage.
What you will do in this role:
- Responsible for after-hour scheduling of various procedures/exams.
- Demonstrates appropriate prioritization of emergency call out of “on-call” personnel.
- Manages conflict and customer relations utilizing active listening, diffusing, and other communication techniques that promote successful resolution.
- Manages facility resources in order to respond to emergencies at the departmental or facility level in an adequate and rapid manner.
- Manages staffing levels during off hours to accommodate changes in census or acuity and documents correction or staff movement in Facility Scheduler.
- Transfers in or out of the facility in accordance with EMTALA regulations and ensures full documentation using available logs and MOT form.
- Displays appropriate critical-thinking skills to identify potential conflicts in ordered patient placement and intensity of care needs.
- Provides patient placement with like illnesses or disease processes that decrease the risk of disease transmission or spread.
- Provides facility overview and pacing of admissions whenever possible that promote efficiency in patient flow while promoting excellence in patient care.
- Possesses knowledge of and management of disease processes or medical interventions to assist in correct patient status upon admission (inpatient, outpatient, 23 hr. observation).
- Use of unit rounds to detect potential hazards or security issues.
- Use of facility codes and associated policies to ensure and appropriate response and minimal risk to the organization, staff, or patients.
- Provides second tier review in the use of restraints.
- Responsibility for locating and providing old medical records as required and obtaining “Release of Information” consent as required.
What qualifications you will need:
- 3-5 years nursing experience in an acute care setting with a broad based knowledge of nursing practice
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Registered Nurse
- Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree preferred
