Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Communications Editor & Copywriter to join our communications team. The Communications Editor & Copywriter reports to the Director of Communications. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all written content produced by the company is accurate, engaging, and aligned with our brand voice, messaging and strategy. You will be responsible for editing and proofreading a variety of materials, including corporate communications, training resources, executive and internal documents. You will also be responsible for creating high-quality written content that aligns with our brand voice and messaging, as needed. Your ability to craft compelling copy and refine existing content will be instrumental in supporting our company objectives and enhancing communications throughout our company.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Function as editorial subject matter expert for headquartersincluding conducting an editorial review of internal and external content, collateral materials (video, written, and more), and presentations; reviewing and revising content to improve clarity, accuracy, and relevancy; advising and consulting with groups and individuals across the organization; proofing and processing legal approvals as necessary.
- Review and edit all corporate materials for grammar, punctuation, style, tone, and consistency. This includes but is not limited to press releases, newsletters, intranet content, social media posts, and internal communications.
- Proofread all documents to ensure they are free from errors and align with the company’s style guide and brand voice.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and subject matter experts to create clear, concise, and compelling content that resonates with our target audiences.
- Maintain and enforce brand guidelines across all content to ensure a cohesive and consistent brand voice and messaging.
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Provide guidance and feedback to internal teams on best practices for writing and content creation. Offer support in developing writing skills across the organization.
- Work closely with the HR team on their events and initiatives throughout the year
- Collaborate with communications team, headquarters teammates, and franchise teammates for consistency in the delivery of news and other contentincluding managing the systemwide news feed of the intranet, managing the headquarters news feed, and optimizing calendars and events coordination which will require managing the priority of messages and altering schedules and strategies on short notice due to urgencies.
- Execute urgent broadcasts and other communications; the ability to multitask and adjust anticipated plans is a must
- Maintain the SERVPRO Communications Resource Guide and advise on changes to the Brand Identity Guide and the acronyms list
- Manage and disseminate digests, including but not limited to the Weekly Bulletin Digest, Hubbub recap email digest, and assist with SERVPRO in :60 newsletter
Required Qualification (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 3+ years of experience in editing, writing, or content management, corporate or agency experience a plus.
- Results-oriented, self-motivated, and creative.
- Proven ability to think strategically; a natural problem-solver
- Exceptional editing and proofreading skills with a strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Ability to write and edit in various tones and styles, tailored to different audiences and platforms.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with AP and/or Chicago style.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Technologically savvy and willing to learn, adopt, or create new software and processes.
- Strong team player who works well with others and fosters a positive working environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Strong creative thinking skills with a passion for storytelling and content creation.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field which demonstrates the ability to research and write.
