About the Medical Specialty Floater Role
We are seeking a highly adaptable and experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our team as a Medical Specialty Floater Nurse in ourspecialty and emergency departments. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys learning different specialties, and can seamlessly transition between departments as needed.
As a Medical Specialty Floater Nurse, you will work closely with a large and diverse team, including specialists, technicians, and support staff. This position requires strong anesthesia and sedation experience, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. When not needed in specialty areas, you will assist on the ER treatment floor, ensuring continuous patient care in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 7a-5pm
- Compensation: Starts at $25/hr and is based on experience/licensure.
What You’ll Do
- Float between all specialty departments to assist where needed, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Work closely with nurses, sometimes functioning independently.
- Provide anesthesia and sedation support, including patient preparation and monitoring.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including scrubbing and securing them in position.
- Maintain sterile processing of surgical instruments, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with specialty teams to ensure smooth workflow and patient care efficiency.
- Assist in ER treatment floor duties when not assigned to specialty areas.
- Adapt quickly to department needs and demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and responsibilities.
- Foster a positive and team-oriented work environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a veterinary clinical setting required.
- Current CVT/LVT/RVT preferred
- VTS Certification highly regarded.
- Strong anesthesia and sedation experience required.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work in multiple departments as needed.
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a large, diverse team.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including shift variations as needed
