Job Summary and Qualifications
The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
What you will do in this role:
Conducts complete patient evaluation prior to procedure, including review of patient history and diagnostic tests, as well as physical and psychological assessments. Ensures patient/family/caregiver understands the procedure and the peri-operative process. Obtains and witnesses consent form.
Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
Assumes responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
Participates in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
Recognizes emergency situations and responds effectively in a calm and controlled manner.
Performs Phase 2 recovery as needed, including discharge, education, and planning.
What qualifications will you need:
Associates degree in nursing or RN diploma required. BSN preferred.
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
BLS certification required within 30 days of beginning of employment
