Job Summary
Respiratory Therapists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing care to our patients. The scope of work for a respiratory therapist includes assessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and/or sleep disorders or associated complications. What you will do:
- Assess individuals to prevent, detect, monitor and manage disease and complications.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to directly impact cardiopulmonary health as well as overall health status according to established goals and interdisciplinary care plans.
- Provide education to promote preventative care, self-management, enhanced cardiopulmonary health and quality of life.
- May provide education and data management relative to sleep-disordered breathing.
- Perform regular assessments of patients and the equipment they are using in order to adjust therapy.
- Collect and/or analyzes patients' blood and other specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases.
- Measure patient lung capacity to determine if there are any impairments.
- Offer diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient.
May include duties as a liaison for accrediting or governing agencies for services such as sleep medicine.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or willing to obtain
- RRT Credential
- ACCS Credential (within 2 years)
- Minimum 2 years adult ICU experience
- Preceptor experience preferred
