Position Details:

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is hiring a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their surgery team in Urology, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery! This team has an established record of excellence, with multiple training resources including a Physician Assistant training program that has been in existence for over 25 years, and which still retains the founding members. This role involves first-assisting in surgery, perioperative care, admission and discharges, fracture care, and wound care.

Role: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Location: 100 Grand Street, New Britain, 06050

Setting: Inpatient, subspecialty surgery

Schedule: Full-time, rotating 27/13-hour shifts. This allows for significant flexibility for work-life balance!

Call schedule: No additional call

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)

Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP certified)

·RNFA certification is required for Nurse Practitioners

Preferred Requirements:

Experience:2+ years in a surgery setting
