Salary Range:

$60,028.00 - $99,023.00The Registered Professional Nurse in the ambulatory setting provides care across the life span to individuals,
families, caregivers, groups, populations, and communities. This is accomplished during face-to-face encounters or
through a variety of telecommunication strategies, often resulting in the establishment of long-term patient care
relationships. During each encounter, the registered nurse focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care
by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing
procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health
services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes. Ambulatory care
registered nurses, acting as partners and advisers within the interdisciplinary team, assist and support patients and
families to optimally manage their health care, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals
and treatment preferences.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is conferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

  • Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Some departments require additional certifications.
  • Experience:
  • Previous nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting or 1 year nursing experience obtained outside an ambulatory care setting is preferred.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
  • Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.

  • Assessment: Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient’s health or situation.
