The Director of Data Science at Hilton Grand Vacations leads a team to identify revenue-generating opportunities and enhance business efficiencies. They build and maintain an extensible data science platform using Databricks, Python, Databricks ML, and OpenAI, while exploring NLP opportunities and supporting other analytics teams. The role involves training new data scientists, addressing ad-hoc requests, and performing prediction modeling. The Director ensures MLOps, maintains production assets, and presents insights and recommendations to leadership, with performance measured by the value added to the company.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Identify Revenue Opportunities: Seek out and capitalize on opportunities to generate revenue and enhance business efficiencies using advanced data science techniques.
  • Build and Maintain Data Science Platform: Lead the development and maintenance of an extensible data science platform using Databricks, Python, SQL, Databricks ML, OpenAI and other tools.
  • Explore NLP and Generative BI: Investigate and implement NLP opportunities and generative BI solutions to support various business segments.
  • Support Analytics Teams: Provide a feature store and technical support to other analytics teams within the organization.
  • Engineer New Features: Rapidly develop and deploy new features to address business needs and improve data utilization.
  • Train and Mentor: Train new data scientists and provide ongoing mentorship to enhance team capabilities.
  • Address Ad-Hoc Requests: Respond quickly to ad-hoc requests and deliver actionable insights.
  • Perform Prediction Modeling: Conduct prediction modeling and calculate customer lifetime value to inform business strategies.
  • Ensure MLOps and Production Maintenance: Maintain production code, ensure MLOps, and manage production assets to guarantee reliability and performance.
  • Present Insights to Leadership: Deliver oral and written presentations to leadership, providing conclusions, insights, and recommendations.
  • Drive New Analytics Projects: Initiate and lead new analytics projects, creating metrics that bridge operational analytics to financial impacts.
  • Participate in Data Governance: Establish new metrics, manage reporting hierarchies, and improve data quality and sources.
  • Develop User Experience Strategies: Formulate strategies for delivering data science conclusions to end users with highest likelihood to gain adoption.
  • Perform Additional Duties: Engage in project-based initiatives and conduct ad-hoc analysis as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, including developing analytical models and prediction modeling.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using Python, SQL, and Databricks.
  • Proven experience with NLP, Databricks ML, and OpenAI technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in MLOps and maintaining production code and assets.
  • Ability to quickly address ad-hoc requests and deliver actionable insights.
  • Creative, well-organized, and inspirational leadership qualities.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbally and in written form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree
  • Timeshare industry experience
  • Experience in PowerBI, Cognos or similar BI tools
  • Background in developing and implementing NLP and generative BI solutions.
  • Experience with feature store management and supporting analytics teams.
  • Proven track record of rapidly engineering new features and maintaining complex data systems.
  • Strong organizational and creative problem-solving skills
