Overview:

Presbyterian’s Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Residency programoffers a year-long clinical training/educational program that utilizes theEmergency Nursing Orientation Curriculum coursework developed by theEmergency Nurses Association (ENA). ED Nurse Residents will experienceincreased skills and confidence in patient-care assessments, decision-making,prioritization and critical-thinking skills. Hands-on clinical experience willoccur under the supervision of an experienced ED preceptor. Residents willobtain continuing education credits upon completion of the ENOC modules
assigned during the program. Residents are on the path to becoming acertified emergency nurse.

Newly licensed and experienced nurses are welcome to apply. Qualifiedcandidates must have a current New Mexico RN license and an associate’sdegree in nursing (completion of a BSN degree is required within five yearsof hire).

Residents will be hired as full-time nursing staff “in training” with full benefits.Hours will be variable and at various sites. Two year post-course completionwork commitment agreement required.

Residents who successfully complete the program’s objectives will beinterviewed for permanent full-time ED staff nurse positions at PresbyterianHospital, Rust Medical Center, and Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • ACLS
  • PALS

BLS Certification required at time of hire.
