Unit Summary:
Over the past few months, we have made some significant improvements to our surgical facilities, including the addition of a sixth operating room; construction of OR seven, and soon we will upgrade the communication systems in the remaining surgical suites. This project comes with upgrades to monitors, towers, cameras, and scopes, that improve the technique and visibility for our surgical procedures. In addition to our physical upgrades, we continue to expand our team of surgeons and have grown in the volume of cases we are able to do each year. In 2023, surgery did 7,837 procedures, a 12% growth in volume from 2022.
Position Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team as appropriate about changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment.
1. Performs duties as assigned and requested.
2. Completes a focused patient assessment with reassessments
3. Based on patients condition, procedures, medications given and treatments.
4. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain
management techniques.
5. Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and specific needs.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and the patient’s clinical condition. Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors.
7. Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring
technical and manual skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be willing to take call shifts
- RN license in state of KY or compact state
- Associate's Degree in Nursing Required
- BLS, withing 7 days of hire
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing Preferred
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
