Unit Summary:

The Emergency Department provides basic well exams, lifesaving procedures, and treatment of all types trauma and illness. Our ED has seen steady growth since opening in the new building, seeing almost 35,000 patients each year in the 22 bed ED alone averaging 95 patients per day. Our Market Emergency RN’s work atClark Regional Medical Center & Bourbon Community Hospital.

Position Summary:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, assesses and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing, required
  • KY RN state licensure or compact licensure, required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 month of hire & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 month of hire
  • TNCC within 1 year hire
  • Handle with care or equivalent in 120 days of hire
  • CEN within 2 years of hire date
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred
  • ENPC preferred
  • NRP preferred
