Job Overview:Clean Harbors is seeking a Container Mechanic for their Burton, MI location. The role involves inspecting, welding, and fabrication tasks associated with roll-off container and frac tank repairs. Other tasks include sanding, prep work, and repairing or replacing all wearable items, such as tarps, gaskets, and any other parts as deemed necessary to ensure proper repair of company-owned assets. Candidates will be responsible for logging all necessary entries of time and materials into an electronic repair order and inventory system. A valid driver’s license is required as some travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and acting safely at all times
- Perform compliance and safety inspections; correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company-owned equipment
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, mechanical repair, and other metalworking techniques consistent with container repair trade
- Fabricate, cut, and weld on roll-off containers and other metal structures
- Maintain shop housekeeping and building maintenance obligations, welding systems, general repair equipment, and shop tools
- Prepare equipment surfaces prior to painting; apply paint or similar coatings using HVLP, airless, or manual tooling and processes
- Produce quality products while focusing on given standards
- Log all necessary entries of time and materials into the electronic repair order system
- Keep the company truck clean, tidy, and free of hazards at all times
- Perform other welding duties and tasks as assigned by management
Requirements:
- Welding (MIG & Stick) and mechanical experience in a fabrication/repair shop environment
- Successful completion of Structural Welding test
- Welding Certification is considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to wear a respirator; must be clean-shaven
- Valid driver’s license and clean 3-year driving record required
